The tusks on your rack were 2”-3” longer but we cut them down to provide a solid channel to fill with our industrial strength setting compound.  Each tusk takes approximately four hours to clean, polish, fill with the compound and prepare for mounting. These are just the right size and shape to hang your coats on as they have a rounded point which is not nearly as sharp as the Springbok Horns. The flat bottom part of the tusk is where the smaller lower tusk whets against the upper one to keep it razor sharp for protection against predators.  Warthogs have maimed leopards and even lions with these impressive weapons that can protrude up to ten inches from their mouth.

The Springbok Antelope is to South Africa what the Whitetail Deer is to our country.  The horns we use are selected for their excellent condition and uniform size.  They are polished to a low luster and are ideal for hanging your favorite hat. Do not hang coats on the horns as the amount of weight resting on the tip may damage the coat.

All of our Ivory Warthog Tusks and Springbok Horns are secured during Government authorized cull hunts in South Africa and are legally imported through US Customs.

The measurements for the 4 Horn/3 Tusk version are 48” wide, 8” tall and is 2” deep. The measurements for the 3 Horn/2 Tusk version are 36” wide, 7” tall and 2” deep.  Mounting these racks is easy as the back features an innovative recessed hanger bracket hidden that allows for flush mounting using the two screws provided.  The density of the wood and large size provides this piece with substantial heft even before you add the weight of any coats.  For that reason, we only recommend securing this piece into wood studs or wood.  We include detailed hanging instructions with each piece that will enable you to hang it in no time at all.
