GENERAL
COMMENTS
"For hunters who demand the
very best!"
Jim Carmichel, Shooting Editor for Outdoor Life
"This review will cover Sporting Wood Creations in general and
their ever expanding and diverse line of ‘acroutrements” for
the shooting sports enthusiast. Like so many successful businesses,
this venture came about as a result of someone’s personal
passion. Whether you are a hunter or huntress or just a romantic
about all things Africa, you owe it to yourself to investigate
Sporting Wood Creations and the many interesting products they
offer."
HUNTING CATEGORY
"Tripod style Shooting Sticks are an African Hunters best friend,
furnishing stability on off-hand shots, but it’s important
to practice with them extensively before the hunt. The ones
from Sporting Wood Creations are available with zebra tops…really
cool!"
Craig Boddington, African Safari
Expert
"The African Shooting Sticks from Sporting Wood Creations are the
best made. They are extremely steady, well conceived and
executed, with unique features not found on sticks from other makers. Practice
with shooting sticks is essential and hunting with the set you
own and with which you have practiced is common sense—these
break down and fit in the travel case with my rifles. We
recommend Sporitng Wood Creations sticks to all of our clients. "
George Sandmann, President of Empire Rifles
"If possible get some African Shooting Sticks and practice with
those. One company, Sporting Wood Creations makes nice commercial
ones."
Terry Wieland, Shooting Editor of Gray’s Sporting Journal
"While black polymers and alloys give hunters useful items cheap,
I prefer wood in things like shotgun stocks, bows and arrows and,
well, shooting sticks. Sticks are still wood at Sporting Wood Creations,
which manufacturers take-down Hickory sticks. They’re beautifully
made with machined alloy connectors. At 70” assembled
they are tall enough for any offhand shot; at 36” disassembled,
they are perfect for sitting or kneeling shots and will fit in
your airline approved gun case. Sturdy and lightweight, they’re
also a lot more photogenic than the black ones!"
Wayne Van Zwoll,
Special Projects Editor for Guns and Ammo Magazine
"The folks at Sporting Wood Creations have been making fine shooting
sticks and other Safari Inspired items for years. A welcome
addition to their product line is a new take-down version of their
shooting sticks. I am definitely not a gadget guy. I
like traveling light with as little equipment as necessary but
these shooting sticks make the cut. "
"Our good friends at Sporting Wood Creations have bought out an
excellent piece of field gear. I put the sticks through a rather
rigorous evaluation in fair weather and foul. What happened?
Absolutely nothing. Just what I was hoping for."
"Dear Jim,
I really like the African Shooting Sticks. Let
me know if you need an endorsement."

Jim,
Just arrived back from Africa. Your sticks worked wonderfully.
I never could have made the demanding 150 yard shot on my trophy
kudu using the sticks in camp. I’ll send some
pictures of me shooting the kudu and buff off of them in a few
days.
Larry Chesney-Managing Editor, Sporting Classics Magazine
Jim,
At first I thought your product was a little pricey but after
using and comparing them to several other (lower priced) products
I have come to the conclusion they are worth every penny. Great
product!

Jim: (first letter)
I received my sticks today. I never thought I’d hold
a rifle so steady on such a thing but I was so very wrong. Have
not tried them out on the .416 but was very impressed with the
entire package. I will be taking them to Tanzania with me
in a few months. Wish me luck!

Hello Jim: (second letter)
Back from Tanzania. Your sticks were quite the hit. If
you would, I need three new sets, the platinum/hickory ones with
the cape buff tops.
Thanks again,
John W.

"Theuns’s knives are in a class of their own. One
of the unique features is the way he colors the steel."

"They are fine examples of the best of the knife makers art."
"I skinned an elk with my Big Bowie last week and it worked beautifully
and kept a great edge. Regarding the Prinsloo folder, I
fell in love with it when I saw it on the table and when I got
home I compared it to my others (that in some cases cost twice
as much) and they could not hold a candle to it. Please send
me photos when you get your next shipment."

Jim,
Thanks for spending so much time with me to get my Trophy
Room just right. The African Spears, Shields and Battle Axe
are the first thing folks are drawn to when they enter. The
Rhodesian Teak Bar, Pub Tables/Stools and cane stand are even nicer
than in the pictures. I have never seen any wood quite like
it and the quality is outstanding! Can’t wait to get
the other items, please let me know when to expect them.

PERSONAL ACCESSORIES AND LUGGAGE CATEGORY
Sporting Wood Creations;
I just sent you an order for three more
belts that I plan to give out as gifts this Christmas. I
have worn my Crocodile Belt almost every day for the past year
and it still looks brand new. The
last one I ordered from a big mail order outlet cost about half
as much and delaminated after about two months. You always
get what you pay for! Everything you told me at the Vintager’s
Show was spot on and thanks for offering such a great product.

Jim,
Your tusk key chains were a big hit with the customers who
came into town for the Bristol Races. Thanks for the suggestion. Any
ideas on what you will do for an encore?
Ed S. Jonesboro, TN
Jim,
Please send me three more key chains…..friends and
family can not keep their hands off them. Have you considered
adding a steel cable so the rightful owner does not have to worry
about them wandering away? I would pay double as at this
rate it is going to cost me far more than that!

Jim,
I received my first Warthog Tusk Gun Rack and it is just what
I wanted. I have been burned on the internet in the past
and was reluctant to even go down that path again so I apologize
if the questions I asked were a bit over the top.
I just had a bunch of friends over for a Superbowl party and your
rack generated a lot of interest. Expect some nice orders
from Northeast Tennessee. Enclosed please find tracings,
wood and tusk selections for six more Gun Racks. Call me
with any questions.

"There are georgeous bookcases, tables/chairs and gun racks made
from the finest exotic hardwoods available. All the furniture
is built by a veteran cabinetmaker and beautifully finished. I
am particulary partial to the ivory tusk gun racks that are custom
fitted to one’s dangerous game rifle."
Sporting Wood Creations,
My husband loved the bookcase. He
put all his hunting books in it the day it arrived. The Australian
Jarrah is very different from anything I have seen and is very
beautiful. I think
we will be calling you about a matching table in the not too distant
future. Kim R.
