Cristina Trujillo Afrika Collection
Cristina is a latecomer to the jewelry field but she is making a name for herself with her natural ability and highly developed sense of style. Her Afrika Collection combines solid 925 sterling silver with hand painted pieces of bone decorated using a centuries old pigment and application method. Each piece of sun dried, polished bone is hand painted by nomadic tribesman from the Sahara desert so no two are alike. We first laid eyes on these pieces at one of the famous European design house company owned stores in South America.  We thought they would be the perfect way for those bitten by the allure of the Dark Continent to weave the fabric of Africa into their lifestyle. Horn Bracelets
We offer two kinds of these unique, natural creations. Our Sterling Silver Gemsbok (Oryx) horn bracelets are both beautiful and unique.  They are created using a proprietary process that makes the Gemsbok horn pliable enough to be cut into various diameters of durable, jet black strands.  These all natural strands are cut thin or thick depending on the scale of the piece.  These jet black Gemsbok horn strands contrast beautifully against the solid Sterling Silver hardware showcased on every piece. This stunning three component set uses natural white, hair-on cowhide as the canvas and artists then hand paint the zebra stripes onto each piece.  The stripes on real zebra skin are much thicker than every one of these pieces so we had to come up with a different way to approach this project. The artists who replicate the natural zebra pattern on each piece are extremely skilled and these pieces are gorgeous. We have these one-of –a-kind Ivory Warthog Tusk  pieces made for us by a custom knife maker who does an outstanding job polishing the tusks, fitting the decorative, exotic accent pieces and detailing the stainless steel pins to add appeal to these eye-catching creations.  We combine two or three of the following elements to create these stunning pieces; polished ivory warthog tusk, Turquoise, Cape buffalo horn and ancient Mammoth Ivory bark for a spectacular combination of colors and textures .The women’s necklaces are on a 18” black chain that has beautifully detailed steel hardware. It has a loop clasp that is very secure and is easy to put on and take off.
